...And So He Left

He was happy at first,
Eyes of wonder and joy,
Hair as fine as the wind,
And a smile that curved,
The same way the sea curves,
He was perfect at first,

...And So He Stayed, with hope filling his heart,

Then something terrible happened,
Someone terrible happened,
He was called useless and worthless,
By someone that mattered,
Someone grabbed him by the neck,
And choked his joy, his wonder out,

...And So His Smile Left, while hope faded from his heart,

He was happy at first,
But he was made to believe,
That he belonged nowhere,
That he had no home,
His hair was thick as blood,
His eyes no longer held wonder or joy,

...And So He Left, with no hope in his heart,

And so he ran so very far away,
He ran into the darkness,
He ran onto the docks,
He ran into the water,
And then someone said "I love you",
And just like that he ran out of the water,

And So He Left,
With eyes of wonder and joy,
Hair as fine as the wind,
And a smile that curved,
The same way the sea curves,
He was perfect at last.....

...And So He Left.
